Cast Iron Blown Molds

Who made them? Who were they made for?

Hi Folks! We have a mystery we're hoping you can help us solve! These molds were found at a typical rural, southeast Pennsylvania "barn sale". Please visit each blown mold page for photos, possible pattern identifications, markings, and other information we could find. Our goal? Where were these three blown molds intended for use and more importantly, who made them. Although bottles, glassware, and patterns are well documented, the origins of molds and their makers are not. We would be very grateful for any information you have to offer! Please feel free to email us through the link at the bottom of this page.

General Information:

  • estimated age is 50-100 years old (our amtuar estimate)
  • note sequential numbers...made at same foundry/shop? Or same glassworks?
  • machining on some molds is not finished
  • may not have made it out of moldmaker/foundry shop to end user
  • we have no history prior to finding them...sorry!!!
  • patterns appear to be copies (repro's) of 1700/1800's known glass/bottles/flasks
  • possibly Clevengers? Or other Sourh Jersey glassworks?
  • from local Pa? Spring City Glassworks? Diamond Glassworks, Royersford Pa? Newborn Glass Co?
  • are these possibly connected to George Mutzer and his "fakes"?
